Keeghan Kinsella, the area third grader I have featured in photos from our first community market day captures the very essence of what our project is about; educating and creating awareness of locally grown healthy foods and the sense of community naturally resulting from sharing our experience with others.
People ranging in age from eight years old to eighty joined us this past Tuesday many, like our young friend, wanting to experience farming life chose to pick their own corn while others stopped in to pick up fresh produce for dinner. Words can’t express the enjoyment I experienced through watching the community share in our first harvest. Thank you from Sam, Lisa, Kelly, Bill, Andrew, Jeff and I, as well as everyone from Black Hawk College, for making our first market day a success!
* DON’T FORGET! IN CASE OF RAIN TUESDAY’S MARKET WILL BE HELD ON THE FIRST SUNNY DAY FOLLOWING.
